The Bath Tub

Bath or shower? How often? Morning or evening?
As the sun is out most people will probably opt for a shower, choosing to feel refreshed as opposed to relaxed.  The power of the bath shouldn’t be underestimated as it is said there can be many health benefits to bathing.  Some of the health benefits are thought to be, the relieving of muscle pain, salt water baths are meant to calm arthritis pain and can also relieve certain skin conditions if prescribed medicated oils are added to the water.  It’s also said that a hot bath before bed produces better sleep.
Historical fact:  In the middle ages, people lived without the luxury of running water.  Back in those days, everyone shared the same bath water.  The father of the house bathed first and then the mother bathed next.  Children would bathe last in age order.
Fun historical fact: In the state of Arizona, a donkey sleeping in a bathtub is against the law??  In Kentucky, an old law required citizens to take a bath at least once a year!
During the bombing of London in WWII, a young lady was taking a bath when her home was bombed.  The bathtub was thrown in the air and came down upside down with the girl underneath.  The tub protected her from collapsing rubble.  When rescuers were digging through the ruins searching for survivors, they were very surprised to find a naked girl under the bath tub unharmed.
Tips on how to unblock your bath tub if it ever becomes blocked:
1) First of all find out if it’s a clump of hair  that is causing the blockage.  If it is near the surface this can simply be removed by a pair of tweezers.
2) If it is a bit more stubborn you can remove the strainer. Some strainers can be removed manually but some have screws that will need to be removed, this is easily done with a screwdriver.  Gunk from soap etc and hair can accumulate over time.  Clean soap scum and hair.  You may also want to clean the strainer depending on how dirty it is.
3) If the above two methods prove to be unsuccessful you can plunge the plug hole by first of all filling the bath with 1-2 inches of warm water.  Block off the overflow with a cloth or tape, then plunge the plug hole.  By having water in the bath it will cause the water to be plunged down the plughole rather than air.
4) We don’t always recommend using chemicals as you have to be very careful as it can cause damage to chrome and possible damage to the pipework through corrosion.

Finally, a very bad bath joke: I dropped my phone in the bath.  Its syncing!😊

  1. Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research on this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such excellent info being shared freely out there. Katee Cyrillus Pleione

It kind of feels too complex and very large for me. I am having a look forward to your next publish, I will attempt to get the grasp of it! Daniele Gaspard Tillie
